Structured Learning Programs (Full Term) — Early Learning

These full term programs are designed to support early learning environments in embedding Aboriginal perspectives through a structured, culturally grounded approach. Each program provides a complete sequence of learning across the term, allowing educators to deliver consistent, meaningful experiences that build children’s understanding over time.

Through storytelling, play-based learning, movement, and connection to Country, children are introduced to key concepts such as identity, relationships, respect, and care for the environment. The programs are designed to be age-appropriate, engaging, and practical for everyday classroom use.

Each program includes detailed educator guidance to support confident delivery and ensure that cultural knowledge is shared in a respectful and appropriate way. Rather than standalone activities, these full term programs provide a cohesive learning journey that supports both children and educators to build deeper understanding and connection.

Term 1: Speaking with Country (YUWI)

Speaking with Country introduces young learners to Aboriginal perspectives on Country, language and cultural identity. Educators guide students through stories, language activities and cultural learning that explore how Aboriginal Nations understood land through kinship, landmarks and cultural protocols.

Term 2: Living with Country (YUWI)

Through stories and hands-on lessons, children explore how Aboriginal peoples used natural materials, observation and ingenuity to create tools, gather food and care for the land.

Term 3: Gather, Hunt and Heal

Through stories, exploration and hands-on activities, students learn how First Nations peoples gathered food, used plants for healing and cared for land, waterways and coastal environments.
